Columbia Gas begins Hunting Drive Betterment Project

Columbia Gas shared the following message regarding its upcoming Hunting Drive Betterment Project in North Royalton's Ward 2. The goal of the project is to upgrade and strengthen the natural gas delivery system to accommodate future load growth.

Two key components to the work include:
• Crews installing new mainline and service lines for those on Vista between Helen and Castalia. There will also be a small stretch of new pipe installed on Bunker Rd. near the intersection of Greenwood.
• Crews are “uprating” the existing mainline on: Dales, Elaine, Helen, Hunting, Perl, Reckman, Stuart, Thames, Greenwood, Oakwood, Pine Hill, Woodside, Bunker Ct. and Oakridge. This is where Columbia Gas essentially is upgrading the system without having to physically replace any existing pipe. There will still be a handful of service line replacements (roughly 20-30/175 total homes) in this area prior to the uprate, but the vast majority of homes will be part of the uprate.

The project is expected to begin early the week of Sept. 27, so don’t be alarmed if you notice crews in the area. For those residents on Vista and the small section of Bunker having their lines replaced, Columbia Gas will begin by laying the new mainline in the right-of-way and then follow-up with service line replacements (scheduled via appointment) for each individual property.
For those residents in the uprate area, there will be no new mainline installation, but crews will contact you to schedule an appointment if a service line replacement is necessary.

Please expect the normal level of congestion in the work zones, however, traffic control will be conducted to allow motorists through safely. Also, Columbia Gas kindly asks that property owners do not remove any flags and/or stakes that have been placed to identify the location of underground facilities. Those are critical points of reference for crews. Finally, all impacted property will be restored upon completion of the project. The map, included below, is the project area.
