City Earns Auditor of State Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of North Royalton is a 2022 recipient of the Auditor of State Award for excellence in financial reporting in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and compliance with applicable laws for the fiscal year. Accepting the award during the Sept. 19 City Council meeting was Finance Director Jenny Esarey (center) and Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. The award was presented by Katie Semo (right), the Regional Liaison with Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber. This particular award is presented to local governments and school districts that have completed a clean financial audit and have filed a timely financial report with the state auditor’s office.

This award indicates that the audit report did not contain any outstanding issues such as findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, single audit findings or questioned costs.

“The citizens you represent are well-served by your effective and accountable financial practices,” the award states.
The Mayor said this demonstrates the City’s commitment to being good financial stewards of taxpayer dollars and accounting for every penny. He thanked Esarey for her thorough and orchestrated efforts in handling and overseeing our Finance Department.
