Patrol Officer Testing

North Royalton Police Department offers full testing services for the position of PATROL OFFICER through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select ‘Find Jobs’, then select Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for North Royalton Police Department.

When you visit the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:

  • Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
  • Review all information related to the North Royalton Police Department Patrol Officer, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
  • Review detailed information about the testing process.
  • Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).

Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to North Royalton PD. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on North Royalton Police Department’s eligibility list.  North Royalton PD will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.

National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the North Royalton Police Department’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process.  All candidate results are provided to North Royalton PD where the final decisions are made.

North Royalton will accept police testing results from NTN from Friday, March 1, 2024, through Monday, May 6, 2024 at 4 p.m.

SALARY/BENEFITS:  Starting salary $69,326-$84, 801 ($33.33-$40.77 hourly) Senior Patrol pay (currently in contract negotiations to include annual raises). Between 2-6 weeks of vacation, 11 paid Holidays, 5 paid Personal Days, Uniform Allowance, Longevity pay after 5 years of service, Education Pay and Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance.

AGE REQUIREMENT:  Must be between 21-35 years of age at time of appointment.

REQUIREMENTS:  All Applicants shall be citizens of the United States. If foreign born, proof of citizenship shall be submitted upon request. Copy of a valid driver’s license from any state and high school diploma or GED equivalent MUST accompany the application (uploaded for North Royalton online at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com). Ohio operator license shall be maintained throughout employment. Only applicants passing all three phases of the examination (video, report writing, and reading: passing scores are 70% for the video portion; 70% for the report writing process and 70% for the reading) will qualify for further stages of the testing process. Those stages are: Mandatory Basic Peace Officer Training requirements and certifications, oral interview, background investigation, psychological profile evaluation, polygraph test, medical exam and drug screen. Passing of a physical agility test from Cuyahoga Community College Public Safety Institute required prior to original appointment (it is not needed to take the exam). NTN’s Personal History Questionnaire MUST be completed.

ADDITIONAL CREDIT:  Given to applicants obtaining passing scores (70%) on the subtotal of all parts of the exam. Credit given for Military Service/Honorable Discharge with at least 180 consecutive days in the Armed Services (10% added onto passing grade). Credit given for education: Certified Associate Degree or higher in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice equals 5 points added to the passing score. Credit for Service as a Reserve Police Officer or Correction Officer of North Royalton Police Department in good standing equals 5 points added to the passing grade. Credit for Peace Officer Training Academy Certification equals 3 points added to the passing grade.  Such credit shall be awarded, upon submission of a qualifying State Certification and/or diploma from an accredited institution and MUST accompany application (uploaded for North Royalton online at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com)
